A word
from the president
It seems that we live in a time
when less and less importance is placed on integrity and honor.
Hopefully, this trend will disturb people especially groups of people
with common interests to the point of establishing and living by a code of
honor of a higher calling.
In
sports, those who love their sport play by standards that do not need enforcing
they are self-imposed. In golf,
for example, the call to honor says play it where it lies.
In most cases, a golfer has no witnesses to be judgmental the
integrity of the game is in his hands. The
image and future of our sport of Martial Arts probably depends even more on
doing the right thing when no one is looking.
I
believe we are moving toward a day when The Martial Arts will enjoy the same
level of respect as other sports. After
all, we are talking about an ancient art form that was founded on the very
grounds of honor and integrity. Surely
it deserves our best effort better yet, our best ethics.
In
the brotherhood of The Martial Arts,
Hanshi Phil Little, President
United
States Isshinryu Karate Association
Let
justice run down like water,
and righteousness like a mighty stream. |
